Happy Friday. Some much needed rain rolled through NTX overnight while you were sleeping but through the rest of your Friday expect dry weather and the sunshine to return. We should normally have nearly 10.00″ of rain in the rain gauges but we are almost 7.00″ below average in mid April.

Rain So Far This Year

Temps cooled into the mid 50s overnight and today return back to near normal with a high topping out around 74° later this afternoon.

Expect a mix of sun and clouds through your Saturday and temps to warm again into the mid to upper 70s. There is a small chance of rain in the forecast Saturday night into Easter Sunday AM. The latest models keep the majority of the rain West of NTX and the metroplex. However, I still kept a 20% chance of rain in the forecast Saturday night including the metroplex but I think this is still too generous.

NTX Rain Chances1

Sunday looks to be a bit more dry that first thought this week. The low pressure off the coast of Southern California will moves east through the next 48 hours. While approaching the Southern Plains it will lose intensity. However, it will be close enough to give us shower potential on Sunday.

NTX Rain Chances11

The trough will still be west of NTX through the majority of Sunday before moving over NTX Sunday Night into Monday. We are going to monitor a dry line that will be near the TX panhandle this weekend to see the forward progression. Right now I think it will still be well west and not provide that catalyst for storms to move into NTX. However, there will be a few strong to severe storms along the dryline and if it sets up further east we will need to reevaluate the precip potential and also storm chance. I was generous with my Probability of Precip on Sunday afternoon still forecasting 30% but this is mainly for the west counties and not the Metroplex.

So your Easter Sunday forecast looks pretty good with just a small chance of showers and a few storms possible. Temps start in the lower 60s with highs warming into the mid 70s.  Nothing to Hop all around and get upset about. See what I did there? “Hop all around” 🙂

Easter Forecast

After the weekend we will see the Texas Sunshine return and we start to flirt with 90° for high temps by midweek.

Extended AM

Have a great weekend.
