DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) –  Five teens have been transported to Children’s Hospital after being pulled out of Woody Branch Creek and stranded by high water, according to police.

Rescue crews pulled the final child from water in the area behind homes on Glen Oaks Blvd. in Dallas around 11:20 a.m.

The teens were trapped in different areas, holding on to branches or whatever they could grab, to keep the current from carrying them away.

Dallas Fire Rescue’s Swift Water rescue team used rescue boats, throw bags and rope to reach all five children, after nearly two hours of effort.  Dallas Police also assisted with the rescue.

After they were pulled from the water, all the children were determined to be in stable condition and were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

CBS 11 has confirmed the children attended Atwell Middle School and had decided to skip class.

Police say they don’t know if the children were swept into the water or had been playing in it before the 911 call came in requesting help.
