Hey North Texas. The sunshine has finally returned for today with more sunshine in the extended forecast. Overnight there was some light to moderate rain across NTX and started clearing west to east through the early morning hours. As the rain ended the clouds started clearing. With the clear skies in some spots of NTX temps dropped into the 40s. Take a look at the AM lows across the metroplex and also NTX. NTX Lows This Morning

The reason we saw rain overnight is that there is a trough moving across the southern plains and across NTX. This provided the axis for precipitation to get squeezed out of the atmosphere. That trough will continue to shift east through the day and night. There is a small chance of some brief showers today as that axis moves east but the precip chance is 10%.

Tonight under clear skies temps will drop well below average falling into the mid to upper 40s.  The record lows is 44° that was set in 1907.

After the cool morning, temperatures will warm into the 80s by the weekend and you’ll be able to wear shorts and T-shirts again.
