FORT WORTH (YOUR HOMETOWN) — You may have seen Four Day Weekend’s show in Fort Worth. The improv troupe performs in and manages a theater in Sundance Square on Houston Street, where they have been for almost 20 years.
KRLD’s Emily Trube had a chance to go backstage with the men who are Four Day Weekend — David Ahearn , David Wilk, Frank Ford, Joshua Roberts, Oliver Tull, Andrew Hammer, Anthony Bowling and Zachary Muhn.
Four Day Weekend’s live shows rely on the audience. They encourage participation and suggestions, which lead to lines, situations and scenes created on the spot. Rounding out the show is soundtrack provided live by Music Director Ray Sharp, who spoke backstage with KRLD’s Emily Trube.
Four Day Weekend subscribes to the “business” part of Show Business. The group is a for profit creative enterprise, and an honored one. This year, the Fort Worth Chamber named them “Small Business of the Year”, and they were recently given a Key to the City. The have performed for two U.S. presidents and delivered a keynote address to the United States Congress.
Co-founder Frank Ford, Co-Founder David Wilk and cast member Zachary Muhn all studied at Second City in Chicago. The prestigious improv training program has, over the years, produced the greats — Alan Arkin, John Belushi, Gilda Ratner, Stephen Colbert and Tina Fey — to name a few.
