OXNARD (105.3 THE FAN) — When you talk to players you can approach it in various different ways.
You can be a straight laced reporter and ask all the right questions and that is really professional and respected and stuff.
You can also be a bulldog and intimidate.
Again there are thousands of ways to set yourself up in an interview.
Today we decided to bit things up with some of the guys we think will be young up and comers with the Dallas Cowboys.
We talked to defensive end Casear Rayford, running back Lance Dunbar, wide receiver Terrance Williams and offensive lineman Mackenzy Bernadeau about a little more diverse topics.
Each one of the players is big into fashion and true style.
That’s not to say that either one of us are big on style, I mean I wear the same shorts and t-shirt combination to work everyday along with flip-flops until the boss says I need to stop dressing like an intern.
But, Kevin is carrying around his son’s backpack, which looks like it’s straight out of a 1980’s John Hughes film.
I seriously don’t know how a 9-year-old boy ended up with a backpack like this, but watching Kevin carry it around is absolutely hilarious to me.
Then again, some of the players felt like it was pretty awesome.
“That’s loud,” Williams said. “ And loud is good.”
That’s a wide receiver that super scout Bryan Broaddus says is about to set it off for the Cowboys this year if he keeps progressing the way he is.
Loud is the word we hear over and over from each of the players.
And for some reason, loud is a good thing. It’s almost as if the louder the patterns and color scheme the more of an impact it has.
George Selvie has a TMNT backpack and Williams says he has a backpack “Leopard and Shark.”
“Like leopard and shark sking?!!!!” I said.
No it turns out it’s just a leopard print with fake sharks teeth for the zippers.
Williams then gives us a bunch of sweet tips on where we can by some cool backpacks.
“They got one that looks like a Gameboy!”
So sometimes it’s great to be a real journalist and talk about sports.
Other times, it’s fun to just goof around with football players, who are really just big kids anyway like us.
