I remember the first music video from these guys. It really freaked me out. By the time their tune “Closer” got on the radio…I was pretty much accustomed to the freaky. See Nine Inch Nails along with Soundgarden at Gexa this Sunday August 17.
If you had my life back in the 1970’s…your mama and daddy controlled the radio…which meant you heard these two artists on a daily basis. Because of that, you realized that country music wasn’t just for your parents. You dug it too. Check out Moe Bandy/Janie Fricke at Arlington Music Hall Friday night (August 15).
1964 The Tribute is Saturday night (August 16) at Bass Hall. This production celebrates the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles. This show features the Debbie Brooks Orchestra, and a musical journey to an era in rock history unlike any other. 1964 recreates an early 1960’s live Beatles concert, with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles and onstage banter.
You and your ‘furry baby’ can check out the 9th Annual Dog-A-Poolooza Unleashed at Halford Community Pool in Garland Saturday (August 16) from 8am to 1pm. They’ll have swimming for the doggies plus low cost vaccinations, pet adoptions, and dog washes and nail trimmings. Garland Pawsibilities helps the City of Garland Shelter adopt out dogs and cats.
The North Texas State Fair and Rodeo is this weekend at the North Texas State Fairgrounds in Denton. The North Texas State Fair and Rodeo will feature 9 days of rodeos and concerts, livestock shows and a carnival.
There is an awesome show Saturday night (August 16) at Choctaw Casino and “Yah Mo Be There”. See former Doobie Michael McDonald and Toto…a band made up of amazing studio musicians…with a penchant for naming songs after chicks. First it was Roseanna and then Pamela and then the song that made it impossible for me to say the temperature without saying “ooooh oooooh” after it. As in 99.
When I hear this guy’s name…I think two things. His black and white music video with some chick covered in sand on a beach…and his 2 scenes in Silence of the Lambs. See Chris Issac Friday night (August 15) at Billy Bob’s.
The Nuge…Uncle Ted…Motor City Madman….it doesn’t matter what you call him. Just be there to see him this weekend. Check out Ted Nugent at Billy Bob’s Saturday night (August 16).
