FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM)– A Fort Worth Church is destroyed in an early Saturday morning fire.

Rise and Shine Church of Christ located on 3700 Fitzhugh Avenue was vacant at the time of the fire.

At 6:20 AM, Fort Worth Fire Department was dispatched to the church, where heavy smoke was coming from the building.

Fire crews were able to the fire under control in about 15 minutes.

No one was injured in the fire, but one senior church leader who came to check on the church, had to be transported to the hospital by MedStar due to shortness of breath.

Church members at the scene of the fire say they are planning to have Sunday’s services in the church parking lot.
