MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) — Two suspects were arrested after a brief chase following an armed robbery in Mesquite early Wednesday morning, but a third suspect remains at large.

Authorities responded to the aggravated robbery call just before 12:30 a.m. at the Quik Trip convenience store located at 4451 North Galloway Avenue.

According to the caller, three males entered the store, one demanding money while displaying a pistol. Because eight people were in the store, the clerk initially thought the suspect was joking.

The suspect then walked outside the store and fired a shot into the store’s awning. The clerk then surrendered the money, and the suspects fled on foot.

Mesquite Police were able to locate a vehicle matching the suspect’s description traveling westbound on I-30. After a short pursuit, a Texas DPS helicopter located the men hiding in a backyard near Emerald Drive. They were taken into custody.

The two arrested suspects have been identified as Alton Conklin, 27, of Seagoville, and Malcolm Webb, 22, of Dallas. The third suspect remains at large.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator B. Davenport at 972-216-6254 or Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
