For the first time this season a HEAT ADVISORY is in effect today. It starts at Noon and continues until 8pm Thursday:

Since this is the first one we haven’t had the chance to acclimate to the heat yet. Please be careful out there if your work (or play) takes you outside this afternoon:

A high of 95° at DFW would be the hottest day of the summer so far. Recent rains mean we have lots of moisture in the soils right now; they’ll dry out as the work week goes on but until then expect a spike in humidity levels. That translates to a “feel like” temperature around 105° or higher, the threshold criteria for a Heat Advisory:

We had a nice cool start to June and half-way thru the month we’ve had half of the days report rain at DFW. But hot and mostly dry conditions look to dominate the second half of June:

There is a little bit of relief in store for us for Father’s Day Weekend. The high pressure ridge currently right over us will shift to the west going into the weekend. This opens the door for easterly moving waves to get to north Texas. They usually only bring slight rain chances but at least will increase the cloud cover and diminish the heat a little:

You can see the effect of this in the extended. Highs in the LOW 90’s teamed with LOW rain chances:
