FORT WORTH (CBS11) – If there’s one thing they’re glad about at Fort Worth’s Fourth it’s the fact event planners have plenty of things in place to combat the heat at Panther Island State Park

First aid stations are positioned along the river banks with MedStar personnel visible on four-wheelers with gurneys on the back.

There are also hydration stations, large, four sided kiosks with water stations.

This year they’ve added a cool down tunnel 40 feet long filled with misters and fans.

A quick walk-through here and your court temperature will come right down. They’re using whatever tools I can to stay cool. If they have a fan, they’re on. If they can find a cool drink or frozen fruit bar they are doing it. What started as a day cooled by morning storms evolved into a sultry Fourth of July for tens of thousands of people.

“Unfortunately, the rain made it even more humid than we want,” said visitor Tim Schneider who’d just walked through the tunnel of misters. “The dry heat is okay but when it’s humid you sweat pretty hard. “But, it’s okay because it’s windy.”
