NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a web video warning about the Zika virus by using an unlikely companion to get out his message.

The video features the first dog of Texas, “Pancake” to explain tips to avoid Zika.

Some of the tips include: remove standing water from your home, change water in pet dishes every day and wear long sleeves and pants every day.

Nearly 100 Zika cases have been reported in Texas, with most resulting from people traveling to countries where the virus is more prevalent.
