WACO (105.3 THE FAN/AP) – Baylor has suspended wide receiver Ishmael Zamora for three games after he was caught on video abusing his dog.

Zamora can be seen hitting in the video the dog with a belt at least seven times, before kicking it.

Zamora in a statement Tuesday apologized for his actions, saying he was sorry that he took out his frustrations on his dog.

Baylor acting coach Jim Grobe said the program does not condone that sort of behavior by anyone, and worked with university officials to hold Zamora accountable for his actions.

Waco police charged Zamora with a misdemeanor in the animal abuse case. The receiver will also have also perform 40 community service hours in a manner that will teach him kindness and respect toward animals, undergo counseling and give the dog to an animal-friendly home.

The 23rd-ranked Bears open the season Friday night against Northwestern State.

Seriously, 3 games is all? A little slap on the hand! The dude should be kicked off team at the very least! Jail time might also be a good idea!!! He deserves the absolute worst possible punishment!

He’s an up and coming Michael Vick in the making. I hate people – especially ones that abuse animals.
