SAN ANTONIO (CBSDFW.COM) – Miracle Mattress in San Antonio will close indefinitely, according to letter from store owner Mike Bonanno.

People were outraged when an ad mocking the 9/11 terror attacks made the rounds on social media Thursday. The “Twin Tower” video features the owner’s daughter, Cherisse Bonnano. It starts out with Bonnano saying “What better way to remember 9/11 than with a ‘Twin Tower Sale?’ ” Then two men in the video laugh, joke and gesticulate with the acting chops of any recent Jerry Springer School of Acting grad, eventually falling backwards into a stack of pillows meant to mimic 1 World Trade Center and 2 World Trade Center. They all scream and feign pain as Bonnano says smugly, “We’ll never forget.”

“It was stupid, it was a stupid idea that we sent out,” Cherisse Bonnanno said after the backlash. “We are not hate. We are love, we are — somebody that stands out. We’re Miracle Mattress and for our lives to be in danger, that’s not what we ever wanted.”

In what can only be taken as damage control on the part of Miracle Mattress owner Mike Bonnanno, the company posted an apology letter on its Facebook page Thursday afternoon.

Here’s today’s apology letter:

Bonanno says he will announce next week “accountability actions” taken with the employees responsible for the ad.
