DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The topic of discussion around Lake Highlands on Monday was focused on a newly proposed elementary school in the White Rock Lake area.
Richardson ISD has already bought land to build a new elementary school near the intersections of Walnut Hill and White Rock Trail.
Families got their first look at the plans for new school at the Richardson ISD School Board meeting on Monday.
The District says it needs the new school location to stop overcrowding at the current White Rock Elementary and wants to make the schools more ethnically diverse.
Ann Gore said her grandchildren attend White Rock Elementary and she lives near the new proposed location. She said she doesn’t argue that there is an overcrowding issue, but she is worried that property values will go down and traffic will increase.
“I have no doubt,” said Gore, “I know there are a lot of people who feel this way too, they just don’t have a sign in their yard.’
Richardson ISD will vote on the boundary recommendations on October 3rd.
