Dallas Arboretum‘s Cool Thursdays Concert Series tonight (9/15) features Sting Police… a tribute to the Police. The gardens are also open to stroll through before the concert to enjoy Autumn at the Arboretum. Running through November 23, Autumn at the Arboretum features the nationally acclaimed Pumpkin Village and surrounding displays with more than 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash and was named one of “America’s Best Pumpkin Festivals.”

Enormous and spectacular gems from the Smithsonian’s National Gem Collection …officially called Giant Gems of the Smithsonian…are on display at the Perot Museum now through Jan. 17, 2017. This will mark the first time such a large collection of Smithsonian gems will be on exhibit outside the Washington museum complex.

If you are a sucker for an awesome dog story…go by and see David R. Hardiman, author of “Bailey’s Remarkable Plan” this Sunday at Half Price Books South Arlington. He will be signing copies of the Christian autobiography/memoir 1-3 p.m. Sunday. The book shares how Hardiman endured many decades of illness and other challenges alone before Bailey – a Shih Tzu – became his best friend, service dog and hero. He says “Bailey is a gift from God to me.”The store is at 2211 S. Cooper St.

Dirk Nowitzki has conquered basketball, sold out charity baseball games and will now show off his skills on a different court. The NBA All-Star and Dallas Mavericks legend returns to his first love – tennis – hosting the inaugural Dirk Nowitzki Pro Celebrity Tennis Classic on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the SMU Tennis.

For nearly three decades, the most authentic Oktoberfest celebration outside of Munich has been held in Addison, Texas.  This year, over 70,000 fans will come together September 15-18, 2016 to share a love of polka, German food, folk dancing, and sing-a-longs one would find in Munich.

The 4th Annual Collin County Fall Home & Garden Show is happening at the Allen Event Center this weekend (Sept. 16–18). Plano Artfest is happening in downtown Plano Saturday September 17.

The 30th Annual Grapefest is happening in downtown Grapevine today through Sunday (9/15-18). Grapevine, named for the wild Mustang grapes that blanketed the land when settlers first arrived to the area in 1844, is the headquarters of the Texas Wine Industry.
