DALLAS (1080 KRLD) – A wrong way driver caused a horrible head-on crash that left two people dead on Hwy 75 near downtown Dallas.

It’s still unclear why, but the female driver of a Cadillac was heading north in the southbound lanes of Central Expressway just north of Woodall Rogers just before midnight when that driver slammed head-on into another car.

The driver of the Infinity that was hit, Hussein Zaybeck, 23, was killed. His brother Mohammed, 21, suffered a broken elbow and broken leg but survived the crash. The brothers were returning home from a celebration when they were struck.

“Very sad, I’m just shocked when I heard the news because I said I hope this is a dream that it never happened, but unfortunately, it’s the truth,” said Zaybeck family friend Dyaa Al-Botabeekh.

The driver of the Cadillac, 27 year-old Lauren Cordova, was also killed.

Police have not said if alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.

Dallas Fire Rescue had to cut the people out because the cars were so badly damaged.

The highway was shut down for hours as numerous traffic division detectives investigated the violent head-on collision.

Friends described Hussein as a nice young man, who never did anything wrong and worked at his father’s outdoor salvage yard.

Hussein’s family will send his body back to their native Iraq for burial.
