Amid all the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s comforting to know that you can still sit down, relax and enjoy a slice of homemade pie.
That was the idea when Judy Pie opened the doors on Main Street in Grapevine about a month ago.
“I retired from teaching and decided to pursuit my dream and have a pie shop” said Owner of Judy Pie in Grapevine Judy Balunda.
Judy and her staff of chefs use her mom’s original recipes that Judy grew up baking and loving as a little girl.
“Our pecan pie is one of the closest tasting where I can actually feel my mother’s presence” Balunda remarked.
The pecan pie is sweet, nutty and just melts on your tongue. However there are pies of every flavor on the Judy Pie menu of the day.
“Today we have lemon meringue pie, pumpkin pie, coconut cream which is my favorite” Judy noted.
The pie legacy that started so many years ago with her mother, will be passed on to the next generation of family pie makers.
“I anticipate that one day my children will be running the pie shop, and they’ll have me propped up in the corner somewhere in a rocking chair” Judy quipped.
