FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — History is being made in Fort Worth again and this time it has nothing to do with cowboys and barbecue.

For the first time ever straight Bourbon is being produced in Cowtown and on Saturday it will finally be available to the public after nearly 5 years of aging in oak barrels.

The spirit is called ‘TX Bourbon’ and it comes from the Firestone and Robertson Distilling Company just south of downtown.

“We’ve been waiting on it for that long and the anticipation for it has been huge, and we couldn’t be more excited about it,” said Troy Robertson, one of the distillers and name sake to the company.

The distillers say not only is the distillery historic to Fort Worth and North Texas but the product is infused with Texas pride.

“It’s made with Texas Corn, Texas Wheat, a Texas yeast, and Texas climate to age the Bourbon,” said Leonard Fireston.

Each bottle will sell for $50 and the distillery says they will have a limited quantity for customers.

The distillery is already known for its popular Whiskey Blend and hope their Straight Bourbon, which mostly associated with the state of Kentucky, will be just as successful.

Robertson and Firestone said the popularity of their products has already created a large demand locally.

“It’s allowing us to expand we are employing more people here locally. We are building a second facility that will allow us to produce more, and hire more people,” said Robertson.

The first ever batch of TX Bourbon will be available from 12-4 p.m. at the distillery on 901 W. Vickery Blvd. in Fort Worth.
