DALLAS (1080 KRLD) – Dallas County health officials are confirming 7 more flu related deaths, bringing the total number of Dallas County deaths this season to 18.

According to officials, 6 of the 7 people had lived in the city of Dallas, one lived in Garland.

The patients who died range in age from 47 thru 88.

“Staying home when you are sick and practicing good health habits like covering your cough and washing your hands helps stop the spread of germs and prevents respiratory illnesses like the flu.” said Ganesh Shivamaiyer, DCHHS Interim Director. “If you have a high risk condition, remember to stay away from individuals who have flu like symptoms.”

Officials say all patients had underlying health conditions and were considered to be of “high risk” and ultimately died of complications from the flu.
