But if it’s local music you’re looking for, you’re headed a bit off the beaten path to some great venues in Deep Ellum and South Dallas. Here are our picks for some of the best venues to discover local music in Dallas:

You can’t help but love a bar that traditionally serves up a beer with a side of… whiskey. Plus, City Tavern’s upstairs performance area is comfy, cozy, and has a pool table, perfect if you have friends that don’t like music (we know who you are!). Crowded shows can become sitting room only, more than standing room only, and a killer lineup of local and touring talent turn this downtown hotspot into one of the best music venues in the city.
