Krimson and Klover
3111 Cole Ave # 101
Dallas, TX 75204-0853
Hours: Mon-Fri: 11am-7pm / Sat: 11-6pm
SMU sorority girls and the socialite set agree that Uptown shoppers need to make a stop at Krimson and Klover. Armed with hard to find designers like Wish, Cooper by Courtney Richley and locally produced Rory Ashton jewelry, this Victorian home turned boutique has character, charm, and beautiful separates you won’t find on every corner. Ideal for tracking down a breezy romper (like this one by Wish) or a flirty dress, at Krimson and Klover you’ll feel like you’re shopping in San Fran instead of on Cole Avenue.

Just two minutes away, give in to nostalgia at Ahab Bowen, one of the best vintage clothing stores in town. Browse through racks and racks of pieces from every time period, including retro shoes, purses, costume jewelry, and luxurious furs. Whether you’re into vintage Jordache or you need a leisure suit for a theme party, Ahab Bowen is where it’s at. In fact, one Yelp.com reader declares, “I’ve traveled across the country going to vintage stores far and wide from San Francisco to LA to New York and this place is up there with the best of ’em.” If that isn’t incentive to check it out, I don’t know what is.

Just a hop, skip, and a jump away is home base for home décor devotees. If you’re looking for the hottest home accents and one of a kind artwork, Blueprint will woo you from the moment you lay eyes on their striking blue front door. Shop for the perfect accent chair for your master retreat from their private label furnishings or simply take in the inspirational aesthetic of the enchanting old house. Either way, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of House Beautiful.

When it’s time for lunch, The West Village is a perfect place to recharge with a juicy bite at Village Burger Bar before continuing your trek. While in the cattle frame of mind, check out Cowboy Cool for all things cowboy… except cooler. Once inside, the horseshoe sales counter, crocodile carpet and traditional Western gear with a modern twist will tickle your Texas fancy. Their exclusive boots are a must-have for any true country guy or girl, or spring $50 for a cowboy hat (I like Star Central) if that’s more your speed. Though this is a no-brainer to bring the out-of-towners to see, you’ll find delicious local flavor for yourself as well.

So what’s left to do? Give those barking dogs a rest and enjoy a glass of wine or beer at Cork. Added bonus: Happy Hour is Sunday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and features half-price tasting and glasses of wine from tasting station selections. With this in mind, you don’t have to feel guilty spending a few extra bucks from your shopping budget in their retail store.
