His first job in radio was at a small news talk station in Vancouver, Washington, a suburb of Portland. It was there Dawson learned the broadcast techniques that would lead him to take a job at The Fan in Portland where he stayed for eight years before he was downsized. In typical charmed life fashion, it turned out a new FM sports station, 95.5 The Game, was set to launch. After 21 months at The Game and filling in for a national broadcast on The Jim Rome Show, Gavin left Portland for Dallas.
Gavin attended college off and on for four years, accumulating credits from five different institutions of higher learning. He dropped out for the final time in late 1998 to pursue a career in delivering broadcast content.
Gavin aka The G-BAG General is possibly the greatest host in the history of sportsradio, according to him. Now in his third year in the metroplex. His family includes his daughter, two pugs named Harvey and Burger, and his girlfriend/fiance/commonlaw wife.
You can find him on XBOX live as “radiochamp” but his friends list is full so you will have to message him and convince him to delete a friend before he can add you. This creates stress in the General’s life.
He is also stressed by still not receiving his apology from Dale Hansen and the latest career ending injuries for his hometown Portland Trailblazers.
He has adopted the Rangers as his favorite MLB team but refuses to convert to the Mavericks and has no interest in gaining a rooting interest in any specific NFL team because it’s too much fun to watch the entire league.

By the time his career is over, I will still think he is a good player and an awesome family man that all of us can feel good about having our kids look up to you, but he isn’t good enough to elevate this franchise.
