Texas Pushes To Keep Execution Drug Source Secret

Two days before Texas is set to execute its first inmate with a new batch of drugs, the state prison agency remained determined Tuesday to keep its supplier a secret, citing threats of violence to pharmacies that sell drugs used in lethal injections.

A former Texas street gang member has been put to death for his involvement in the fatal shootings of four women during an ambush 11 years ago. Robert Gene Garza, 30, is the 12th inmate executed this year in Texas.

Texas Inmate Executed

A Texas inmate was executed Thursday evening for fatally shooting one of three people he and a partner abducted during a convenience store robbery nearly 11 years ago. Richard Cobb, 29, didn’t deny using a 20-gauge shotgun to kill Kenneth Vandever in an East Texas field where two women also were shot and one was raped. He was convicted of capital murder.
