The Rangers are retaining for another season the broadcasting teams with whom they finished the 2012 season.
The University of North Texas said Wednesday that Dave Barnett will do play-by-play television coverage Saturday against Texas Southern and Nov. 10 vs. South Alabama.
Barnett said in a statement issued through the team Monday that he was taking an indefinite leave of absence for medical reasons. He didn’t elaborate.
Barnett tells 105.3 The Fan that the preliminary diagnosis for what happened June 18 was a “complicated migraine” with a “complicated diagnosis.”
Dave Barnett has been a play-by-play sports announcer for decades but it was a sudden, nonsensical episode during the 8th inning of the Texas Ranger’s game, against the San Diego Padres, that is now receiving nationwide attention.
Rangers TV play-by-play man Dave Barnett had a bizarre on-air moment in the 8th inning of the game between the Rangers and San Diego Padres on Monday night.
The Rangers announced that, starting on Friday night, Dave Barnett will join Tom Grieve as the new television play-by-play announcer.
