Richard Childress Racing
NASCAR’s final appeals officer has upheld penalties levied against Richard Childress Racing for intentionally manipulating Ryan Newman’s tires in March.
Richard Childress Racing is moving crew chief Slugger Labbe into a leadership role in its research and development department.
Newman, a 17-race winner, will replace Jeff Burton, who announced last week he is leaving RCR at the end of the season.
Without committed sponsorship in place, and a desire to scale back his schedule in two years, Burton and team owner Richard Childress made the decision to cut ties following this season.
NASCAR has fined team owner Richard Childress $150,000 and placed him on probation through the end of the year for his altercation with driver Kyle Busch.
