Van Cliburn International Piano Competition
Alex McDonald of Plano is still recovering from competing in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition earlier this month. McDonald, who holds a PhD from Julliard, admits that experience was exhausting but, exhilarating as well.
Six finalists have been named in the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition held at Bass Hall in Fort Worth.
The competition that’s held every four years will take place May 24 through June 9. It was created in 1962 by some Fort Worth teachers and residents who wanted to honor Cliburn.
The funeral for a larger-than-life Texan was held Sunday in Fort Worth. He was celebrated by presidents, heads of state, and friends who knew him best.
Renowned classical pianist Van Cliburn has been diagnosed with advanced bone cancer.
