Quarterback
Winner The Colts played one of the most impressive games of the early season in their 27-7 road victory over the San Francisco 49ers. High marks to Andrew Luck for his ability to stay calm, avoid mistakes and make big plays with his running ability when he needed to. Luck has a magnificent arm, but his leadership ability may be an even bigger advantage.
The Jaguars have been in way over their heads this season. After playing what may be the best team on the road last week in Seattle, they face a strong Colts team that has raised its level of play. Chad Henne might be an adequate quarterback if he were surrounded by decent players, but he is not. He was sacked three times by the Seahawks and was under constant pressure.
Offense
Winner The Colts were not overly pleased with their running game this summer and in the early part of the season, so they traded for potential superstar Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns. Richardson should be ready to contribute this week. Reggie Wayne is still the Colts' most dependable receiver while Darrius Heyward-Bey has field-stretching speed.
The Jaguars don’t have a lot of options on the offensive side of the ball. They need Maurice Jones-Drew to be the center piece of the offense, but he is bound to get discouraged in the near future. Wide receiver Cecil Shorts is not having the impact he did a year ago, but he does know how to get open.
Defense
Winner The Colts showed dramatic improvement on the defensive side of the ball against the 49ers, as they had no trouble containing explosive quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Head coach Chuck Pagano and defensive coordinator Greg Manusky were on top of their game, and so was linebacker Jerrell Freeman, who had eight tackles, a sack and a forced fumble vs. the Niners.
The Jaguars may not be a good team, but they don’t quit either. They played with plenty of effort vs. the Seahawks and linebacker Paul Posluszny stands out nearly every week. He had 12 tackles and an interception against the Seahawks. Cornerback Will Blackmon is aggressive and has some ball skills, but he often appears a step behind in coverage.
Special Teams
Winner While Adam Vinatieri may not have the leg strength that he did when he was in the prime of his career, he has the skill and guts to make key field goals when the game is on the line. Pat McAfee has the leg strength to flip the field in the Colts’ favor.
Josh Scobee is a slightly above-average kicker. If the Jags were a better team, they might want to address the position but it is not a priority. Punter Bryan Anger gets good height on his kicks and has slightly above-average leg strength.

The Winner Is

4 out of 4

The Colts demonstrated how good they could be in their win at San Francisco. The only question for them is about consistency. Look for the Colts to put this game away early.

Tale Of The Tape: Baltimore Ravens At New Orleans Saints

The Ravens are dependent on Joe Flacco to play his best football down the stretch if they are going to make a run at the AFC North title. Flacco is certainly capable of getting hot and putting big numbers up on the scoreboard.
