Reading isn’t something we do just because we have to stay abreast of current events and obtain information. We also read for enjoyment. Sharing the love of good literature is what book clubs are about. They connect us with others. Here are several book clubs located throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Novel Ideas
Euless Public Library
201 N. Ector Drive
Euless, TX 76039
www.meetup.com

This is a social book club with meetings every two weeks at the Euless Public Library. For long books (over 400 pages), the group will take four to five weeks for the book. Book club attendance varies from eight to 16 people per meeting and the age range for the group is late 20s to mid-60s with the majority of the members in their 30s. The group also engages in social events like tubing down the San Marcos River and Whirly ball.

Dallas Book Addicts Club
Half Price Books
5803 Northwest Highway
Dallas, TX 75231
www.meetup.com

This book club meets once a month at Half Price Books in Dallas. This is relaxed group with not a lot of structure. It is more like having a conversation with friends about a book instead of a college literature class where you would analyze a book. Book club members vote on the books to be selected for reading. Approximately one out of every 10 books is non-fiction. Book club attendance varies from eight to 12 people and this group gravitates towards 20- and 30-year-olds.

The Vintage Book Club is a new book club. It meets at the newly opened Roots CoffeeHouse in Highland Village, Texas. A place where lovers of fiction and non-fiction gather to discuss and converse about novels, memoirs and classic works is the mission of this club. The group is open to whoever wants to join and will focus on traditional reading material that will be very familiar to readers. This group meets every two weeks on Mondays.

Fresh Book Club
Roots CoffeeHouse
2570 Farm to Market 407, Suite 140
Highland Village, TX 75077
www.meetup.com

The Fresh Book Club is the second book club that meets at the Highland Village location of Roots CoffeeHouse. At the Fresh Book Club, things are a bit more eccentric. The Fresh Club not only tackles classic novels and memoirs but all other forms of literature; short stories, screenplays, graphic novels and philosophy all gathered for a group to experience and walk through together. This is an excellent way to expand one’s breadth of literature. This group meets every two weeks, opposite The Vintage Club on alternating Mondays.
