The bright lights of DFW might be exciting for some during the holidays, but for others, a quick escape out of town may be the perfect way to add some festive cheer to the season. Whether it’s a holiday vacation with your clan or a romantic rendezvous with your sweetie, these nearby getaway destinations provide a welcome change of scenery without having to break the bank.

Leave suburbia behind for an idyllic vacation experience at Sid and Eva Greer’s working family farm and ranch, located around 130 miles east of Dallas. The 1850’s farmstead comes complete with four fully furnished log cabins and a loft apartment, all resting along the banks of an 11-acre lake. There’s plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained including fishing, canoeing, biking and hiking. Kids will enjoy feeding the farm animals and collecting fresh eggs for breakfast. Additionally, the Greers sell grass-fed meat, freshly made jams and homemade bread so you can prepare a farm-to-fork feast in your cabin.
