City life is hectic. We work hard; we play harder. But when everyone in the city hits the same old nightspots, things can get tedious. Sometimes it’s a good idea to break away from the norm. Tonight, kick back with a nice glass of wine and relax while a professional musician tickles the ivories. We think you’ll find that these Dallas / Forth Worth area piano bars strike all the right chords.

The Library Bar at the Warwick Hotel
3015 Oak Lawn Ave.
Dallas, TX 75219
(214) 224 3152
www.landmarkrestodallas.comThe Library Bar at the Warwick (formerly Melrose) Hotel is the perfect, relaxing spot for live piano entertainment. As befitting the mood, its performers either croon the best jazz standards or rock out to the latest hits by Lady Gaga. The décor is––you guessed it––a real, honest to goodness library. Hundreds of books sit on bookshelves that line every wall. It’s dimly lit, with lots of floor space for large gatherings or quiet window-side tables for more intimate occasions. The Library’s location provides an interesting mix of out-of-town hotel guests, businessmen, society notables and, since it’s near the LGBT district, a prominent mix of handsome same-sex couples.

It’s not particularly large, but with its blue accents and soft amber candlelit tables, you’re sure to find it charming and relaxing. Local artists Goga, Jennifer Perryman and Joel Clark are known to perform here. Plus, Ocean’s Prime selection of steaks and seafood is one of the finest in town.

These fun-loving professionals won’t stop until the audience is singing, clapping and doubled over in laughter. Reservations are recommended for large parties, but walk-ins are welcome all night long. There may be a cover charge depending on the night. Don’t fret Dallasites, there’s also a popular location in Addison.

The menu offers decent bar fare and some Italian selections. If the food doesn’t wow you, the man on the piano will. There’s live music every night and the place fills up, so get there early for a good seat. You can also stop in for some card playing fun with free Texas Hold ‘em tournaments every Monday and Tuesday night.

Louie Louie’s Piano Bar
298 Lincoln Square
Arlington, TX 76011
(817) 274-7464
www.louielouiespianobar.comAfter cutting his teeth at Pete’s family of piano bars, an ambitious entrepreneur, Louie, decided he wanted a place of his own. His offering is called Louie Louie’s. Like the other choices here, audience members are encouraged to bring a play list and request songs, which keeps the show varied and interesting. But just a heads up, their performers can get a little wild. If you’re celebrating a birthday, they’ll pull you on stage and sing about things it’s impossible to print. Better bring some extra cash for the tip jar to make sure you stay on their good side.

Unbeknownst to Robert Stahl, his body is an empty shell, telepathically controlled by a brain in a jar which was buried long ago under the floorboard of his home in Dallas. Consequently, he can’t explain why his days are filled with the urge to write: stories, letters, and articles, whatever. His work can be found at Examiner.com.
