The best salads are made with more than just lettuce, dressing and a few croutons. When prepared with the best ingredients, salads are healthy and delicious. Premium ingredients like pears, Parmesan cheese and arugula can bring intense flavor to a dish once thought to be bland. With warm weather comes the urge to eat outside in the sunshine. A light meal is usually the most appetizing in the heat, so salads often appear on spring and summer menus. Below is a list of where to find the best spring salads in DFW. These restaurants know how to make salads right.
Fireside Pies
1285 S. Main St.
Grapevine, TX 76051
(817) 416-1285
www.firesidepies.comFireside Pies is known for its pizza, but there are noteworthy salads and drinks on the menu as well. The harvest salad at Fireside Pies includes a variety of ingredients that all come together for a unique flavor, perfect for springtime. The salad is made with red oak and endive leaves, blue cheese crumbles, crispy pancetta, Marcona almonds, as well as apples, pears and dried cranberries. The fruit and champagne vinaigrette add sweet but tart elements to create an ideal salad for spring.

Cole Vines
2404 Cedar Springs Road, Suite 500
Dallas, TX 75201
(214) 855-4999
www.coalvines.comIn warm spring weather, Cole Vines can open one entire side of the restaurant, making the it open to the fresh air. Although the Cole Vines Caesar salad is listed as a side salad, there is certainly enough for two. The flavor isn’t small either. There is so much garlic on this salad that everyone at your table will know it. One thing is for sure: you won’t need to worry about vampires for the evening.

Ozona Bar & Grill
4615 Greenville Ave.
Dallas, TX 75206
(214) 265-9105
www.ozonagrill.comThe patio at Ozona is about the same size as the restaurant itself, making this the perfect place to enjoy a spring lunch. As its name implies, the Texas spinach salad begins with fresh spinach, and adds hard boiled eggs, fresh mushrooms, bacon and pecans, as well as jack and cheddar cheese, croutons and a few fried jalapenos. The jalapenos add more bite than you might expect, so make sure to have a cold drink on hand for your first bite. Honey mustard dressing comes on the side, so you can pour as much as you like over the bowl.

Snappy Salads
2175 E. Southlake Blvd.
Southlake, TX 76092
(817) 251-8888
www.snappysalads.comSnappy Salads will have your favorite salad no matter what the season. That’s because you can to make yourself. A full salad includes greens, 12 items of your choice, as well as a dressing and crunchy (a crunchy is croutons, nuts or seeds). Twelve may seem like a lot but there are so many items to choose from that you will actually have a hard time. Some of the more unusual items include pineapple cilantro, and water chestnuts. If you aren’t feeling creative, there is a menu with already-made salad options as well.

Campania Pizza & More
291 Grand Ave.
Southlake, TX 76092
(817) 310-3116
www.campaniapizza.comThe basica salad at Campania is very light, and frankly, basic. It has only a few ingredients, but like most Italian food, that is all you need for immense flavor. It has a base of romaine lettuce with sweet cherry tomatoes, a generous helping of parmesan and mozzarella cheeses, and an Italian-style house dressing. It is the perfect beginning to a meal of pizza or pasta, and pairs nicely with a glass of wine.
