The reason Fort Worth calls itself Cowtown can be found just north of downtown at the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District.  The Stockyards gives a chance to see “where the west begins.”  If you get there at the right time of day, you can also get a glimpse of the daily cattle drive that passes through the Stockyards, just watch where you step afterward.
