Q: Hi Mario! How long have you had this car?

A: I’ve had this car for about three months. I bought it from Central Kia in Lewisville.

Q: It looks great! Lewisville, is that where you live?

A: I live in North Dallas, about fifteen minutes from the dealership.

Q: What are you doing in Deep Ellum today?

A: I’m doing ArtLoveMagic. It’s a local Texas nonprofit that is basically a platform for local in the area.

Q: I saw you carrying a few things in the back of your car. Are you a big part of ArtLoveMagic?

A: Actually, I’m the CFO of ArtLoveMagic. I’m actually the right brain person, the person who does numbers and logistics and organization on the backend. Most of the stuff you see is the art and the artist painting, creating pottery, welding. But someone has to be the one on the other side and that’s me. I do have some help here and there.

Q: What do you like most about working with the organization?

A: The people. I work with amazing people. They’re doing what they love to do. It’s a great organization to be a part of. We have tons of people who want to be in our shows and we love to have them.

Q: Well that sounds awesome! I know you’ve only had the car for a few months, but if it had a human emotion, what would it be?

A: I guess it would be… I don’t know how to say it. It’s kind of got a Miami Vice feel to it. It’s got the sunroof with the windows rolled down and all the buttons. When you’re looking out at night, there’s a gleam that bounces of it. It has an aura of “I’ll get you there.” It’s strong. It’s like a hero of some kind.

Q: What made you buy this car?

A: Actually, this is a very interesting story. This is the fourth car I bought in three months.

Q: How is that possible?

A: The first one I bought was used. It had 6,000 miles on it, but they charged me the price of a brand new car, so I took it back. It was a gas guzzler. The second one was brand new. It was fully loaded, had everything. Once I finished buying it, I got into the car and as I was driving off the lot I realized I didn’t like it. I turned around and brought it right back. Then I bought a third vehicle, which was a black Kia Sorrento. It was a really nice car and I really liked it at the time, so I kept it for about three months. I walked back into the dealership to get my oil changed or something like that. Then they had this car on the lot. It was a brand new Kia Sportage. It wasn’t there before or I would’ve picked it. The one I had was black and I really liked it, but they said they could give me a really good deal if I wanted this car. I don’t really go for white, but the white on this car matched the black that it had going against it. It had a sunroof and better gas mileage.

Q: Wow, four cars in three months is really something. OK, last question Mario. Does your car have a nickname?

A: I call it the White Knight!
