Fort Worth Police Officer Awarded Medal of Honor; Audio ExcerptOfficer Matt Pearce received the Fort Worth Police Department’s top award Thursday night, the Medal of Honor. Pearce was shot five times March 15 while chasing two suspects through a wooded area of west Fort Worth. Also honored were Sgt. Cory Luttmer, Officer Brandi Kamper, Officer James Minter and Cpl. Jason Ricks for saving Pearce's life.
Grand Prairie HS Student Hit, Killed By Train; Audio ExcerptA Grand Prairie High School student was killed after being hit by a train Thursday evening. Chelsea Kretz with the Grand Prairie Police Department said Kedarion Cooper, 18, was with two other teens while they crossed railroad tracks near the 2300 block of West Main Street at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Cooper was hit by an eastbound Union Pacific freight train, and died at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas a short time later.
Bush & Wife Remain Hospitalized In Houston; Audio ExcerptFormer President George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, remained hospitalized in Houston on Friday, a family spokesman said. The 92-year-old former president is being treated for breathing difficulties stemming from pneumonia. He was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital last weekend for shortness of breath but was later moved to intensive care when physicians put in a breathing tube.
