Despite what seemed like constant flame-thrower heat, August turned out to be only the seventh hottest in North Texas records. Based on numbers from the National Weather Service, three of the seven hottest Augusts were in the 1940s and early 50s while the other four have been since 1999. Last month, we had 22 days with triple-digit highs. The high temperature came on August 23rd when the official thermometer at DFW Airport reached 107 degrees. Some outlying areas recorded highs as hot as 110 that day.
