The ordinance would have allowed Arlington police to arrest anyone in the zone who has recent prostitution convictions, whether hookers or johns.  The Arlington City Council has been talking about this for several months but has been waiting for a recommendation from a committee chaired by council member Sheri Capehart.  But yesterday, Capehart told the full council that her committee opposes the exclusion zone and, after that, no one on the council was willing to suggest that the proposal be put on any future agendas.

The latest map showed the zone was bounded by Lamar, Great Southwest Parkway, Abram and Cooper.  Inside that boundary are Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and Cowboys Stadium where next year’s Super Bowl will be played.
