This week brings an exciting collaboration between our Dallas Symphony and The Dallas International FIlm Festival. The award winning composer behind many great films like Devil wears Prada and Marley and Me will be in town as part of The Master of Film series.  Theodore Shapiro will conduct our symphony with a look back at all his great film scores and even create a new one!  His newest film ARTHUR starring Russell Brand and Helen Mirren will also screen Wednesday 4/6 as part of our DIFF at the Anjelika Film Center in Dallas – great arts synergy!!  The Masters of Film series will be performed the weekend of 4/8 at the Morton Meyerson.

Some new teen stars, Aimee Teegarden and Thomas McDonell,  will be at the Macy’s Stonebriar Mall this Wednesday at 6pm to meet fans and talk about their new film Disney’s PROM.  they will also be donating one of the prom dresses worn in the film to a charity that helps young girls in need afford special dresses for their school proms.  The film opens citywide on Friday 4/15.  I will be talking to the rising stars – let me know if you have any questions!

We are excited to be gearing up for some great coverage of the annual Main Street Arts Festival in Sundance Square the weekend of 4/15.  Look for our special one hour shows both Saturday and Sunday afternoon as well as extensive and LIVE on site news coverage Thursday and Friday.  I will be telling you all about the great arts events going on – one that I am excited about is the Fort Worth Symphony’s free mini concerts on Saturday – it’ll be a great way to sample our world class Bass Performance Hall and orchestra at no cost – always a great idea!  So please come out and see your favorite CBS11/TXA21 family members – we love having an opportunity to meet you!

The Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame also has a big event going on this week – new digs at the Cowtown Coliseum and some great new honorees will be on tap Friday 4/8.  You’ll be able to take a look back at some of the wonderful cowboys and cowgirls that have helped shape our community.

A TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL will debut at The Contemporary Theater of Dallas Friday 4/8 as one of the last events surrounding the first annual Horton Foote Festival going on across Dallas and Fort Worth.  The Oscar and Pulitzer prize winning Texas playwright has had so many of his great works performed for the past four weeks all over the region.  Please make sure you support at least one of the participating venues.  This festival was a huge arts initiative and we want to make sure we keep creating innovative events like this in the future by showing our support!!

See you next time…center stage!
