DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A woman armed with a knife has been arrested on a DART train.

Officials say passengers started calling authorities just before 8:30 a.m. from a southbound Blue Line train from Garland. They complained the woman was armed and ‘ranting’ at riders.

DART spokesperson Mark Ball told KRLD NewsRadio 1090 that police were cautious when they arrested the woman.

“They were prepared to board the train but they saw that the woman actually exited the train and when she walked far enough down the platform, where she could be apprehended safely away from passengers and customers who might be hurt, they did indeed make that arrest,” explained Ball.

The unidentified woman, who is believed to be in her 50’s, was taken into custody at Mockingbird Station.

No word yet what charges the woman may face.
