North Texas weather is finally cooling off – very welcome news!  So let’s celebrate with some great local entertainment!

It’s still September but not too early to celebrate Oktoberfest!!  Named one of the country’s most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations by Forbes and USA Today, Addison Oktoberfest features four days of family-oriented entertainment. German entertainers in authentic costumes perform traditional Bavarian folk dances, schuhplattling, oompah music, sing-a-longs, yodels and more.  A special “Oktoberfest” Spaten Bier is served along with several types of German sausage, sauerkraut, strudel, giant pretzels and more.  Join in the fun from Thursday through Sunday. Shakespeare takes over the Wyly with the new season of the Dallas Theater Center’s production of THE TEMPEST. There could scarcely be a more provocative start to the season—or a more vivid way to experience Shakespeare’s beloved final play. Unique staging that transports you deeply into the middle of the spectacle, music and dance. Immortal themes such as the power of forgiveness and the bond between parent and child. Best news? All seats are $25 in honor of the 25th anniversary of DTC’s Project Discovery  Make time to see The Tempest currently oonstage thru October 9th.
While in the Arts District why not experience a lovely night at at the popular Late Night at the Dallas Museum of Art?!  The event will be held this Friday from 6:00 pm – midnight.  it’s a great way to experience the museum’s excellent exhibitions during the relaxing and more laid back evening hours.

And lastly – take the whole family to the Winspear Opera House this weekend for the Dallas Children’s Theater production of Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters – an African Tale.  It’s the official collaboration of DCT and the AT&T Performing Arts Center.  Performances are at 2p and 7:30 Saturday night and at 2p on Sunday.
