DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) – Polarizing Denver Broncos quarterback, Tim Tebow, led his team to a 17-13 win over a stunned New York Jets team on Thursday Night Football.
Tebow ran for a 20-yard touchdown, with just under a minute left in regulation, to cap off a 95-yard drive to seal the victory for Denver. On the night, Tebow completed 9-of-20 passes for 104 yards and rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on eight carries
Once again, Tebow’s critics and supporters were out in full force, including former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann.
Theismann joined me on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas Friday morning and had nothing but praise for the former Florida quarterback.
What of Tebow’s highly scrutinized performance against the Jets last night?
“Tim can’t throw the football to save his life,” Theismann started. “But, you love what he does. I thought what he did last night against the Jets is what Tim has done in the last 5 weeks- he’s taken the load of the game on his shoulders and made some big plays. You’ve got to love what he does for football.”
Theismann adds, “He’s made it [the game of football] exciting.”
And if Theismann were the GM of a professional football team, would he have Tebow as his quarterback?
“No absolutely not,” said Theismann. “He does win games, but I want a quarterback that I think can win other than with his legs, at some point.”
Denver (5-5) is 4-1 since Tebow replaced starting quarterback Kyle Orton.
