In an area of town that feels like Deep Ellum (but isn’t quite in that actual neighborhood) sits Bryan Street Tavern. Tucked away at the corner of Peak and Bryan Street, this bar and music venue is one of the best-hidden gems in Dallas. The food, the drinks and the atmosphere all combine to make it a great neighborhood hangout.
Okay, you might not usually check out a bar for its food, but in this case, we’re willing to make an exception. The star of the menu is pizza – and they take their pizza very seriously at Bryan Street Tavern. Thin crust, cornmeal on the bottom, and toppings – ah, the toppings, sausage from nearby Jimmy’s Food Store, with your choice of spicy or mild. Our recommendation is the Tavern Favorite, which comes with your pick of Jimmy’s sausage, onions and mushrooms. Like a good deal? Pizzas are half off on Mondays.
Being a tavern, Bryan Street’s beer list is nothing to sneeze at. While it changes seasonally, the current summer picks include Franconia Dunkelweizen, Fireman’s #4, Magic Hat #9 and Brooklyn Lager. And, yes, they have plenty of light beer to choose from too.READ MORE: Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, Multiple Injured In Fort Worth
As far as other drinks go, many patrons (us included) are well-versed in the house shots offered by the Bryan Street bartenders. What can we say? It’s just $3 for house shots on Friday and Saturday!
Speaking of drink specials, Bryan Street Tavern scores bonus points for their nightly happy hour specials, including:
- ½ price appetizers and wine bottles on Wednesdays
- $3 wells on Thursdays
- Happy hour specials all day on Sundays
Forget the pizza. Forget the beer. Okay, don’t forget the beer. But the atmosphere – that’s why you come to a place like Bryan Street Tavern. Inside, they’ve got booths, sofas and shuffleboard. Even when it’s packed, you still feel like you’re hanging out in your cool friend’s basement. Outside, they have one of the best patios in the city, with picnic tables and a gorgeous view of the skyline.
If pizza, beer and a great patio aren’t enough for you, Bryan Street Tavern’s live music lineup should be. Shows are held in a separate room from the patio and bar, so you can take a break from rocking out if you need it. Bookings feature a solid mix of national acts and local bands, and most upcoming shows are posted on the bar’s FacebookPage.
