DFW AIRPORT (CBSDFW.COM) – An LSG SkyChefs employee was struck and killed by a catering truck early Sunday morning near the company’s facility at the airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport spokesman David Magaña said.

The employee was standing at the loading dock on the south side of the building, which is located at 2120 West 33rd Street. At about 6:45 a.m., Magaña said the man was hit by the catering truck and declared dead by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner at 7 a.m.

The victim has not been identified, but Magaña said he is a man in his fifties and was employed by LSG SkyChefs.

Magaña said the accident did not affect any flight operations at the airport, but did cause a delay in catering services as investigators spoke to witnesses.

UPDATE: LSG SkyChefs spokesman David Margulies issued this statement Sunday evening:

“We can confirm that an associate of our company passed away today while working at our facility at D/FW International Airport following a motor vehicle accident.  The incident is being investigated by the D/FW Department of Public Safety. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have also been notified. Our company is cooperating fully with the investigations. Due to this incident and the investigation we were not able to cater some flights this morning.   We extend our deepest sympathies to the employee’s family and will work with law enforcement to assist in the investigation.”
