PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) – A young girl is dead following a car crash in Plano this past weekend. It happened at about 3:45 p.m. on Saturday in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 near Legacy Drive.

Several witnesses described the crash to police. A blue Dodge pickup truck was reportedly traveling in the lefthand lane as traffic came to sudden stop. The pickup truck driver tried to prevent a crash by swerving away from a vehicle directly ahead. But that truck entered the highway’s HOV lane and struck a maroon Chevrolet sedan.

The sedan traveled along the highway’s concrete barrier, hit a light pole and ultimately came to a rest upside down. Four people inside of the car were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Three of those victims suffered minor injuries, but a 4-year-old girl was pronounced dead.

There were five people inside of the pickup truck. None were injured.
