ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — The Dallas Cowboys have trimmed their roster to the league-mandated 53 players by making several moves before Saturday’s 3 p.m. deadline. Most notably, the Cowboys have waived running back Ryan Williams.
The team could still make additional roster moves by claiming released players off waivers before Monday.
Defensive end Anthony Spencer, who will not be placed on PUP, passed a physical. Owner Jerry Jones has ruled Spencer out for week 1 against the 49ers, but believes the pass-rusher could be ready by week 2.
The Cowboys also traded an unknown 2015 draft pick for Titans’ defensive end Lavar Edwards. The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder played in 7 games last season after being drafted in the 5th round out of LSU.
