DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) – The Dallas Fire Fighters’ Association is calling for a new investigation, because they believe at least one, or maybe several, Dallas firefighters may not be telling the truth about what happened on the morning Stan Wilson died.
Dallas Fire Fighters’ Association President Doug Dickerson said members believe someone may have lied about who gave the order to send the crew into the building. He spoke to the I-Team following a two-hour special meeting where more than 100 firefighters gathered to discuss the report recently released about Wilson’s death.
“We just want the opportunity to wash all of this out and see who is potentially lying, flat out, or who is not remembering it clearly,” said Dickerson.
In an audio tape obtained exclusively by the I-Team, we’ve learned that commanders have argued about who told Wilson and the others to go back inside the burning complex.
Dickerson says some of the firefighters on the scene that day will likely file the complaint with the department asking for the internal investigation.
Chief Louie Bright has said the report finds mistakes were made but no one will be disciplined.
Dickerson said, “We hope they take that very seriously and start that investigation… and do their due diligence to make sure all of the facts come out.”
Dickerson said this is the first time the association has requested another investigation following a report about a firefighter death.
The Dallas Fire Department did not comment on these latest developments.
