NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A Texas congressman wants to temporarily suspend visas for West Africans wanting to come to the United States.

Republican Michael McCaul is the chairman of the house homeland security committee. He believes we need to eliminate the threat at the source.

“I think we need to target more the individual themselves and look at the idea of potentially temporarily suspending the 13,000 visas that would be coming out of this region,” said Rep. McCaul.

McCaul said he thinks suspending visas is a better option than an all-out ban of flights to and from West Africa since health care workers need to continue to come and go from the region.
