DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – One day after Dallas police were called to the intersection of Scyene Road and Hatcher Street to investigate a body found in a creek, investigators have identified the dead teenager and arrested another teen for the murder.
Police received the 911 call about the body around 7:45 in the morning of October 21. At that time Chinh Le, a spokesman with the Dallas Police Department, could only say that the body discovered was a Hispanic woman. But after interviewing a witness, Le said, “There is evidence of a homicide.”
Police later identified the victim as 16-year-old Jackeline Veloz. Police have not said how the girl died.
According to authorities, interviews with several people including the victim’s boyfriend, revealed a lot of information. Investigators said it was those interviews that lead to the arrest of a 16-year-old Latin male for the murder of Veloz. Since the suspect is a teenager his name has not been released.
As it stands police say they still don’t know what relationship, if any, the teens had. The motive for the murder is also unknown.
