DALLAS(CBSDFW.COM) – A two-year-old Irving boy is dead and police have arrested his Stepfather with his murder.
The investigation started Wednesday when toddler boy was rushed to Children’s Medical Center.READ MORE: Health Officials Urge Safety Measures Against West Nile Virus In North Texas
The boy’s stepfather, 25-year-old Michael David Mercado called 911.
According to police records he told the operator his son had a seizure.
Doctors quickly discovered his son had in fact suffered severe head injuries and was placed on a ventilator.
Investigators say Mercado was home alone at his Irving apartment with his stepson for five hours on Wednesday when he called 911.

“Every time I met him he was always polite, very calm, had no idea something like this could happen.”
Friday the two-and a half year old boy died at Children’s Medical Center. After his death his step-father was arrested for capital murder.
This investigation is still in its early stages.
