HOUSTON (AP) – Arkansas and Texas will renew their old Southwest Conference rivalry in the Texas Bowl. The Razorbacks and Longhorns both take 6-6 records into Monday night’s game at Houston.
Texas leads the all-time series 56-21 and has won the last two meetings, including a 52-10 victory in 2008.
A key matchup will be the Texas defense — which sacked the quarterback 39 times this season — and the Arkansas offensive line, which allowed just 13 sacks.
The Hogs’ challenge on defense will be stopping Texas receiver John Harris, who caught 64 passes for more than 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns. The Longhorns face a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins, who have combined for 23 touchdowns.
This is the second time the two schools have met in a bowl game. Arkansas won 27-6 in the Cotton Bowl in 2000.
