KRLD — It’s time to escape your winter hibernation and explore! Temperatures will reach the upper 70s this weekend in North Texas, providing the perfect opportunity to experience something new.

— If you want to have the coolest boat on the lake this summer, make it happen this weekend at the DFW Winter Boat Expo going on now through Feb. 8 at Dallas Market Hall.
— I don’t know about you, but as a kid, my bookshelf was lined with these books, and I have bought them for my daughter to read as well. Now through April 26, you can see the “Golden Legacy: Original Art from 65 Years of Golden Books” exhibit at the Irving Arts Center.
— He is a little dude, but he packs a big punch comedy wise. Check out Katt Williams at the Verizon Friday night.
— Get out your costumes and prepare to spend the weekend in Irving. Dallas Comic Con Fan Days is at Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas this Saturday and Sunday.
— Country goddess Sara Evans will be doing her thing in Fort Worth this weekend. Check her out at Billy Bob’s Saturday night.
— You know what they say about he who dies with the most toys wins…so get a jump on it this weekend. The North Dallas Toy Show Saturday at Valley View Center will have a slew of Hot Wheels, Action Figures, Comic Books, Collectible Toys, Transformers, Matchbox cars, Star Wars stuff and so on.
— The North American Reptile Breeders Conference is happening this Saturday and Sunday at Arlington Convention Center. You don’t have to own the creepy crawlies to enjoy this thing. They’ll have tons of stuff to look at like snakes, frogs, turtles, geckos, iguanas, and tortoises.
— If you are more interested in the habitat of the creepy crawlies, this might be more your thing. The Collin County Home and Garden Show is set for Friday through Sunday at the Allen Event Center. Over 250 exhibitors will showcase the latest products and trends in remodeling, gardening, outdoor living, kitchens, and interior design. The family-friendly event also includes gourmet food trucks, pet adoptions, handmade crafts, and giveaways.
— When I was in high school, I thought about being a professional dancer. And then I realized you had to be able to dance…in front of people…in a leotard. Ain’t happening. These folks can dance and they do it wearing all kinds of stuff. The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to the Eisemann stage this Saturday for a sixth time with some of the most romantic, athletic and funniest dances ever brought to the stage. The UT Dance Ensemble will open the show.
— Odds are you have seen the pretty red cardinals at your backyard bird feeder, but what about those birds that are dive bombing mice and rabbits? This Saturday at the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, you can check out the Birds of Winter presentation. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., you’ll learn about the raptors of North Texas in up-close presentations.
— We all grew up with these kids and now you can learn more about them. The “Peanuts…Naturally” exhibit at the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau is a lighthearted and fun exhibition that explores Charles Schulz’s view of the natural world in “Peanuts” comic strips, videos, objects and interactive stations. See it now through April 22.
— I was just talking to my 7-year-old about this movie the other day. I was explaining to her how Reece’s Pieces were invented for this movie when the people who made M&M’s refused to allow their product to be used in the film. Probably one of the most stupid decisions ever, and one of the biggest movies ever. This Saturday night, see E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial at Angelika Film Center & Cafe in Plano.
— I know Valentine’s Day is a week away, but this show Saturday night would be an awesome Valentines gift (hint, hint). When it comes to love songs, these guys are among the best. See Restless Heart at Choctaw Casino Resort.
— What better way to prepare for Valentine’s Day than with a little “Welcome to My Nightmare”, “Poison” and “Under My Wheels”. See the rock legend that is Alice Cooper at the Verizon this coming Tuesday (2/10).
— This is the last weekend of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, so if you haven’t made it out there yet, you need to get a move on. This weekend you can see the Southwestern Sheep Dog Trials, the Junior Sale of Champion Steers, Lambs, and Goats and the World’s Original Indoor Rodeo.
— Can’t Help Myself, Baby I Need Your Lovin’, Ain’t No Woman Like the One I’ve Got…just some of the great tunes from the Four Tops. This Sunday at the Winstar, you can hear them all.
